Toes & Sleepers

In this section you enter toe heights for standard cabinets and vanities. Your toe height can vary in height and depth of recess, you can even eliminate it and place your base face frame directly on the floor.

Explanation of Toe Specifications

  • Maximum Toe Length: Enter the maximum length your toe boards come in. For example, your toe boards might come in 8' lengths. You would enter 8' or 96" into the edit field provided. This information will be used in conjunction with "Ladder Kicks". See Connect Toe Kicks for more information.
  • Standard Toe Height (Floor to Bottom Rail): Enter the distance from the floor to the bottom of the base face frame. This is the distance before the flooring is put in. (Remember to add extra height if thick flooring will be put in after the cabinets are installed, i.e. hardwood floors, tile, etc.) If your bottom rail hangs down over the bottom of the cabinet, the actual toe height will be adjusted in the cut list.
  • Vanity Toe Height: Enter the distance from the floor to the bottom of the base face frame for the bathroom cabinets.
  • Toe Recess (Standards): Enter the distance from the front of the face frame to the front of the finished toe.
  • Toe Recess (Finished End): Enter the distance from the outside edge of the finished panel to the outside edge of the finished toe. This is the distance the toe is recessed on a finished end.
  • Toe Recess (Vanity ): Enter the distance from the front of the face frame to the front of the finished toe in a vanity (bath) cabinet.
  • Distance from Wall to Sleeper: Enter the distance (if any) from the back side of the toe, (or the wall side of the sleepers), to the wall. Often, in new construction, there is drywall mud or other debris where the floor meets the wall. By holding your toe away from the wall by an inch or two, may help avoid problems in leveling your cabinets.
  • Maximum Distance Between Sleepers: Sleepers may not be a familiar term to everyone. In Cabinet Solutions a sleeper refers to the vertical toe pieces that run from behind the toe to the back of the cabinet. Enter the distance you want between each sleeper. If you do not want any sleepers, enter a number that is larger than the largest cabinet you will build. (i.e. 200")
  • Note: Clicking the "Remove All" button will remove the toe kick entirely. It will enter in the values required to do this automatically, making this a fast and easy way to remove the toe from a cabinet.
