This is to show you Back up your files from your Cabinet Solutions CNC directory to another folder and then restore them after you install the new Cabinet Solutions 6.7 CNC.

  1. Right click anywhere on a blank area on your desktop, then left click on "New" and then left click again on "Folder".
  2. Name the new folder whatever you would like. For best results, name the folder with the date you created it. Example date: 03-03-05, for March 3, 2005.
  3. Now Minimize this screen by left clicking on the " _ " in the upper right hand corner of your screen, near the " X ".
  4. Double click on "My Computer" and then on "Local Disk C" or "C Drive".
  5. Double click on "Program Files". If you see a message that appears on your screen marked "Show contents of this folder", click on "Show contents of this folder" and then Double click on "Cabinet Solutions".
  6. Click on "View" at the top of your screen and then click on "Details".
  7. Click once where it says "Type". This will group the file types together, making it easy to sort through them.
  8. First set you'll be looking for is your Customized Cabinets. (Cabinets you've saved in your library.) If you do not have any Customized Cabinets, you can skip to number 9.
    1. Scroll until you see "CCB File" and left click ONCE on the name of the first item under where it says "Name".
    2. Scroll down until you see the last file marked "CCB File", hold down the shift key on your keyboard and then left click ONCE on the last file name.
    3. Now that your items are selected, left click on "Edit" at the top of your screen, and then left click on "Copy".
    4. Now Minimize this screen by left clicking on the " _ " in the upper right hand corner of your screen, near the " X ".
    5. Double click on the new folder we created in Step 1 to open it, and then go to "Edit" and then "Paste".
    6. Minimize this screen by clicking on the " _ " in the upper right hand corner again, and open the "Cabinet Solutions" folder that should already be on your "Task Bar" at the bottom of your screen.
  9. Next, we look for the Job costing files. Repeat the same steps as Step 8a through 8f, but instead of looking for "CCB File" under "Type", you are looking for "CSD File", which are your standard files. You will want to select all of those files BUT the "AUTOSAVE.CSD". This file does not need to be backed up.
  10. Make sure you select and copy the file marked "WOODTYPE.NAM". This is your wood type information.
  11. Now we are looking for the Standard files. Repeat the same steps as Step 8a through 8f, but instead of looking for "CCB File" under "Type", you are looking for "STN File", which are your standard files.
  12. The final batch of files to look for are your job files. Repeat the same steps as Step 8, but instead of looking for "CCB File", you will be looking for "Cabinet Solutions Job File".
  13. When you are done with those steps, you may now safely uninstall Cabinet Solutions from your computer.
    1. Left click on Start, then left click on Settings, and then left click on Control Panel.
    2. From there, left click on "Add or Remove Programs" and find the Cabinet Solutions CNC entry.
    3. Left click on it and click on Change/Remove, and then click on Yes when prompted.
    4. If prompted to remove any Shared Items, left click on No to All.
    5. You can now close all of the windows that are open.
  14. You may now install Cabinet Solutions 6.7 CNC and follow the steps on your screen.
  15. After you are finished installing Cabinet Solutions 6.7 CNC, double click on the new folder that was created in Step 1.
  16. Left click on "Edit" and then left click on "Select All" to highlight everything and then left click on "Edit" again, but this time, left click on "Copy" and then close this window down.
  17. Double click on "My Computer" and then on "Local Disk C" or "C Drive".
  18. Double click on "Program Files". If you see a message that appears on your screen marked "Show contents of this folder" and then Double click on "Cabinet Solutions".
  19. Finally, left click on "Edit" and then left click on "Paste" and it will paste in all of the information you backed up previously. If you are prompted to over-write files, it will be ok at this point to click on "Yes to All".

The folder that you created in Step 1 is effectively your backup of Cabinet Solutions and you may do with it as you want.
